Overview
Fellows hold the highest qualification awarded by CIIN. The Institute fellowship involves the completion of a personalised, structured and advanced professional development programme. To become a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, the applicant must fulfil one of the two classes of requirements.

1. A Fellow of other recognised Insurance Institute.

2. An Associate to become a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.


A fellow of other recognised Insurance Institute:

— The applicant must have been a financially up-to-date Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria for at least two years as at the date of application.

— Applicant must submit evidence of financial membership of the Institute for at least two years.

— Applicant must submit letter of attestation to good character.

— Applicant must be engaged in the Insurance Industry.

— The decision of council on election of Fellow is final.

— On election, each successful applicant will pay an election fee stipulated by the Institute.


An Associate to become a Fellow of the Institute:

— The applicant must be an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, the Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom or an Associate member of any other Insurance Institute recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.

— Applicant must be at least thirty years old at the time of application.

— Applicant must have been elected an Associate member of the CIIN for at least ten years at the time of application.

— The applicant is to produce evidence of having scored the required minimum points in the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme i.e. 35 points each for three (3) consecutive years preceding the year of application.

— Applicant who having satisfied the above requirements will be cleared to obtain the application form.

— Payment of a non-refundable application fee of ₦20, 000 (Twenty thousand naira) only.

— Applicant is to submit evidence of financial membership of the Institute along with the completed application form.

— Applicant is to submit three (3) research topics to the Fellowship Assessment Committee out of which a topic will be approved.

— Applicant is to submit four (4) copies of a standard dissertation of not less than 13,500 words and not more than 15,000 words along with the soft copy. The two copies of the dissertation should be binded with dark blue cover and the other two with spiral bind.

— Applicant must submit letter of attestation to good character by a fellow of the Institute and employer.

— Applicant will be invited to defend the dissertation before the Fellowship Assessment Committee

— Each Applicant recommended by the Fellowship Assessment Committee may be invited to appear before the Board of Fellows for an interview.

— The decision of council on election of Fellow is final.

— On election, each successful applicant will pay an election fee stipulated by the Institute.
